Sun Exposure & Dark eye area circles

Posted in: Causes & Treatment

sun exposure & your dark eye circles So why does Paris Hilton where those ridiculously sized sunglasses you ask? Well it could be to both hide those bags under her eyes, or simply to prevent those dark circles caused by extreme partying and lack of sleep from getting much worse.

Sun exposure plays a huge role in premature skin conditions, and if you are prone to dark under eye circles or shadows, UV rays from that great bright orb in the sky, may be seriously embedding them into your face.

It is a well known fact these days that the suns UV rays are an incredibly bad thing for our skin, and is also responsible for much of its damage, unattractive conditions, and premature aging.

In the area of the eyes however, the damage being done is quite extensive compared to elsewhere. With a much more thin attribute due to stretching across the eye sockets, and lack of fatty layers underneath, the suns damaging attributes more easily penetrate and can cause damage and conditions much easier than in areas where the barrier is more protective.

When it is bright and sunny outside, taking proper caution and prevention to not over expose our skin, especially the eye lid and general eye area, will go a long way in making sure that the damaging and penetrating UV sun rays don’t cause more pronounced and visible under eye bags, circles, or all sorts of other skin problems associated with UVA radiation exposure.

Of course, the most obvious advice, to stay out of the sun completely, isn’t quite practical, and to be honest isn’t at all necessary or healthy either… As long as we consider the following points and take action on implementing them, we can gain some insurance that we won’t end up looking like we are constantly wearing some kind of goggles around our eyes.

Sun Exposure & Eye circle advice:

  1. Avoid over excessive sun exposure at peak UV times… A golden brown tan is lucrative to many people, but over exposing your skin and the volatile thin eye area may seriously contribute to those raccoon like dark shadows; further more – covering your eyes during tanning would have you looking like a rare albino raccoon, so just take your golden browning in moderation and more gradually over time this summer.
  2. Wear a sufficient sunblock, and work it into the eye area. Most people avoid the process of getting their sun tan lotion near there eyes, however it is quite important to apply in this area cautiously and thoroughly. Spend some extra care and time in this area, carefully applying it and making sure not to get it in your eyes, but a nice layer around them.
  3. Use dark lens protective sun glasses more often. This is an important fact, and you should opt for slightly bigger lenses that cover more of the general eye zone if you are prone to under-eye circles or bags. Another commonly overlooked factor is the opacity of the lenses… before buying check the mirror to make sure that you can’t see through the lenses into your pupils, as they won’t be as protective if so.
