Nutrients & diet causing dark circles
Posted in: Causes & Treatment
Certain nutrient deficiencies may be responsible for your regularly appearing eye shadows, and it is important to eat a balanced and healthy diet, especially if you have a serious case of recurring dark circles around your eyes.
Such nutrients as iron and vitamin c are commonly found deficiencies in people with fast paced or stressful lifestyle, and most commonly associated with dark circles relating to nutrient deficiency.
Taking proper care to introduce enough iron and vitamin c into your diet can go a long way in helping with the appearance and development of dark bags around our eyes, and if you suspect you may be deficient in iron or vitamin C, start trying to include natural sources of these nutrients into your diets, or consider a health supplement rich in the two or a daily multivitamin to help compensate.
Another common nutrient culprit is over excessive intake of potassium or sodium. Sodium in particular is found in most of today’s fast and packaged food, and extra large intakes of salt contributes to the retention of fluids near the eye area.
Take care to eat a balanced and healthy diet rich in vitamins and healthy nutrients, and watch out for over excessive intake of such things as sodium and potassium, and you may very well see your dark circles go away, and at the very least improve in appearance!
General advice for nutrient & diet problems:
- Eat a balanced diet rich in essential vitamins and minerals… Choose more healthy and natural alternatives over packaged and fast foods more often, and increase your vegetable and fruit intake in place of fast snack foods
- Consider taking a daily multivitamin
- Talk to a qualified nutritionist to help identify what types of supplementation, dietary choices, and food choices are appropriate for your lifestyle and current diet situation
