Rubbing of the eyes

Posted in: Causes & Treatment

eye rubbing & dark under eye circles Commonly associated with other causes of dark circles such as allergies, general illness and sinus troubles, rubbing of the eyes frequently also deeply plays a role in the development of puffy or dark circles.

Constant rubbing of the area due to irritation is common when we have a cold or are allergy prone and doing so can be greatly influencing the appearance of those dark shadows around your eyes. Itching and allergies can make it quite unbearable for some, so if you are having a constant or recurring urge to itch or rub out your windows to the world, proper identification and isolating the cause and stopping it is important.

A few tips for itchy eyes:

  1. Pay attention to your rubbing habits, and make a point to not rub them so often, or at the very least, do so more gently and in a massage like fashion to help relieve the sensations driving you crazy.
  2. Staring and concentrating your focus on small words, computer screens or in dim light can easily further irritate your vision. When reading or focusing on something, make sure there is adequate and proper lighting to help your vision not be so agitated
  3. Suffering from allergies or a common illness? Quickly and properly treat the illness or allergen, getting adequate sleep and getting over the cause of your itchy eyes more quickly
